#11 What to Prepare Before Your First Client Phone Call
What do you need in place before you officially open your doors or take that first phone call?
Welcome to Private Practice Lounge, a podcast dedicated to providing therapists with the tools and knowledge they need to achieve success in their private practices. I’m Janessa Borges, a first gen Latina therapist, that teaches other therapists how to grow successful full paying private practices with zero stress.
Today, I wanted to talk about what you need in place right before you get your first phone call.
So I’ve been working with this amazing coaching client. She is jumping fast, full speed ahead and I love her energy, and I went to check in on her in between our coaching calls, I realized she put up a Google ad and I said WAIT!
I’m so excited you’re ready, but you’re not ready.
We all start at zero, but there many things you have to set up before you even start thinking about getting ready. While some of the things I list seem obvious, they are easy to forget when you’re going full speed ahead and anxious to start taking clients.
There’s going to be a space where you feel like all those boxes are checked and you’re ready to get the call, but I can tell you about what it feels like when you get your very very very first phone call for private practice and you freeze on the line and I don’t want that to happen to you, like it happened to me.
In this episode, I have created a comprehensive guide on what you need in place before receiving your first client call. Discover the importance of having a professional social presence, a designated business phone line, and a scheduling platform like Simple Practice (not an ad!) to streamline your operations.
Don’t miss out on future episodes packed with valuable insights!

Resource: Are you ready to stop playing small and scale your business?
I’m an expert in reading people, and extracting what you WANT to say and communicate it clearly and effectively to those you want to connect with. (Like a translator)
I put all the puzzle pieces together and help you apply it to your business.
One of the challenges in all the podcasts you’ve listened to, or the expensive programs and coaching you’ve paid for, is that you just didn’t quite get the success you were hoping for.
You didn’t have the individualized help you needed to apply it, or the coaches you have worked with just didn’t “get you.” Right?
The best programs work BUT you need a side-kick to help you apply all you’ve learned (and all you’re missing) so you get the results YOU need!
Even with all of their secret sauces, magic recipes, and playbooks you seem to be missing something…the secret ingredient to make it work for YOU.
My gift is seeing past where you’re stuck. I can see your vision, pull it out of your heart and your mind and create results.
I make sure your gifts are highlighted in a way that speaks to your ideal client, so they say “I want to work with HER!”
